The United Nations has called the global community to make greater efforts towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Global warming due to increased levels of CO2 and greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is causing unusually bad weather and rising sea levels worldwide. The past seven years have recorded the warmest temperatures globally.

In September 2022, United Nations Secretary - General Antonio Guterres commented: “The harmful effects of climate change are bringing us into harsh and unpredictable conditions,” but “we are losing in taking action to prevent global warming.

How do the sustainable growth and green economy mean for Vietnam at this time?

Vietnam receives 35-40 billion USD of FDI each year, more than any other country in the world. This number accounts for about 8-10% of the national GDP and 80% of it is put into production and goods for export.

The above numbers show the strong growth rate of Vietnam's economy but also pose many problems about development and environmental protection. This is also a general trend happening worldwide. Consumers demand more green-based products/ services, and investors/ manufacturers also require environmental and sustainable factors to be taken into account in production & services.

At the 26th of the United Nations' Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), the Government of Vietnam made a commitment to reduce emissions to zero by 2050, showing the importance of the transition to a green economy. Sustainable supply chains & Using renewable energy

We are working with suppliers to minimise their own climate related impacts and those of our products. By 2025, we’re targeting that 90% of our supply chain spend will be with sustainable suppliers. We are also cutting certain types of paper from our supply chain by making more processes digital.

Our target is for 90% of our properties globally to use renewable energy by 2030, supporting a more sustainable workplace.

4. Reduce, reuse, recycle

Our aim is to measure and reduce the waste we generate as a business to zero landfill and incineration, while increasing the use of recycled materials in our products and across our operations.

We are committed to reducing the environmental impact from waste. Our goal is for 100% of our waste material to be reused, recycled or repurposed for conversion into energy by 2035. To ensure full accountability, we’ve also put in place plans to better measure our waste across our major markets.
