At RI Hong Kong, sustainability isn't just a buzzword; it's a core value that drives our operations and shapes our impact on the environment and our community. As we reflect on 2025, we're proud to share the significant progress we've made in our journey towards a more sustainable future.
Our commitment to sustainable pest control and facility management is evident in our achievements this year.
Toxic Pesticide Reduction: One of our most notable successes is the 11% reduction in the usage of four toxic pesticides. This exceeds our target of 5%, demonstrating our proactive approach to adopting non-chemical or less toxic alternatives such as In2care, Fendona, and Seclira SG.
On-Site Servicing (OSS): We successfully achieved 56% On-Site Servicing (OSS) in our Sanitary Bin service, far surpassing our target of 40%. OSS helps to reduce the material load in our vehicles, directly contributing to reductions in fuel consumption and our overall carbon footprint.
We understand the importance of empowering our customers to make sustainable choices.
Lumnia LED Insect Light Traps: RI Hong Kong promoted and sold close to 8,800 units of Lumnia Insect Light Traps in 2025, significantly exceeding our sales target of 700 units. These traps utilize LED energy-saving light bulbs, making them a more energy-efficient and environmentally responsible choice for insect control.
We are continuously optimizing our operations to reduce our impact on the environment and conserve resources.
Lower Carbon Vehicle Fleet: We are actively transitioning to a cleaner vehicle fleet. In 2025, we resized one service van to a smaller, fit-for-purpose micro van and replaced an old service truck with a new model that meets the Euro 5 lower emission standard.
Reduced Vehicle Carbon Footprints: Our efforts to optimize routes and improve fuel efficiency have yielded impressive results. RI Hong Kong reduced fuel consumption by 7% in 2025 compared to 2024, significantly exceeding our target of 2.5%.
Plastic & Metal Recycling: We are committed to increasing service waste recycling. Our efforts led to an 8% increase in plastic waste recycling in 2025, with over 4 tons of plastic from sanitary bins and used dispensers being recycled. Furthermore, we recycled over 130kg of metal and plastic from used air freshener aerosol cans, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 230kg.
Our sustainability efforts extend to our workplaces and are reflected in the perceptions of our employees.
Reduced Property Electricity Consumption: In 2025, RI Hong Kong reduced property electricity usage by 7%, surpassing our target of 5%. This was achieved through the implementation of energy-saving devices, such as outlet timers for microwaves and water dispensers, and by regulating air-conditioning temperature and usage in all of our Hong Kong and Macau premises.
Improved ESG Scores: Our commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles is reflected in our 2025 Employee Survey. Our Group Average ESG score improved to 76%, up from 73% in 2023.
While we are proud of these achievements, we know that our journey towards a more sustainable future is ongoing. We remain committed to continuously improving our operations, empowdeepering our customers, and creating a sustainable workplace for our employees.
We are continuing to develop non-toxic and eco-friendly pest control solutions.
