Rat control methods

Rats are well known to spread disease, damage property and contaminate food and animal feed. If they are able to gain entry into your home or business, they can introduce other unwelcome parasites like fleas, lice and ticks.

Acting at the first sign of a suspected problem can help to dramatically reduce the length of time needed to effectively control a rat infestation. Rats are able to breed quickly and a small problem has the potential to develop into a serious issue if left unmanaged.

Dual AutoGate Connect

Utilising a smart gate mechanism, Dual Autogate Connect’s sensors distinguish between rats and mice, and only opening when rodent activity is detected. When the sensor is triggered, the motorised door opens to allow only target rodent species into the station, preventing non-target pests, animals, and unauthorised personnel from accessing the rodent baits.

Dual AutoGate Connect provides you with an effective multi-rodent detection, monitoring and treatment solution, allowing rapid protection and control for rats around the exterior of your property.

As part of our digital pest control family of solutions, it provides you with real-time information on the rodent activity in your business which is accessible via our online reporting and analysis system, myRentokil

Rodent baiting

Rodent bait is formulated to control the presence of rats. It is available in various forms including toxic and non-toxic.

Our rodent baiting solution can be placed in and around structures, near rodent burrows, at entry points and in transport vehicles.

Rodent baits are contained in secured lock bait stations. These are suitable for all weather conditions and are successfully tested to ensure they offer effective treatment against rats. They keep staff, customers and members of the public safe from inadvertent harm. They are designed to be tamper resistant so they can be used in areas where there may be pets of children present.

Rodent tracking

Rentokil UV Tracking Gel is a specially formulated non-toxic fluorescent gel that highlights rodent tracks on virtually any vertical or horizontal surface. The gel does not dry out and when the rodents run over it or climb on a surface where it has been applied, it sticks to the feet, belly, and tail.

The rat leaves a trail of the gel wherever it goes. The fluorescent dye in the gel lights up when a UV torch is shone on it by a Rentokil technician, highlighting rat trails in a building. This gives a good indication of where to put traps or bait and helps to determine control measures to take and advice to prevent further infestation.
