Removing Mosquitoes: What Happens After the Moonsoon Season Ends?

The monsoon season in Indonesia is divided into two types, namely the Asian and Australian monsoons. Asian Monsoons (otherwise known as western monsoon winds) are the period during which winds pass through Indonesia in the transition process between Asia and Australia.

This has resulted in quite high rainfall from October to April. When the Australian monsoon (eastern monsoon) occurs, the air pressure will be higher in the southern hemisphere, causing Indonesia’s dry season to typically occur from April to October.

Thus, this means that the rainy season in Indonesia will end soon! Many people also feel that rainy seasons not only hinder your movement but are also the cause of many undesirable things, such as traffic congestion, flooding, and even the worst, the emergence of diseases stemming from erratic weather conditions and the rise in the population of malignant pests that can breed in each season, such as mosquitoes.

Most people understand that mosquito breeding is aided by standing water during rainy seasons. However, if you don’t keep your house clean regularly, most people may not realise how mosquito breeding also has further implications when the weather is dry and hot.

Heater temperatures encourage mosquitoes to hunger faster and create viral replication faster (such as when warm air crams the virus faster). It also means that the spread of disease will be faster! In addition, dry seasons increase pest proliferation or create an increasing mosquito population.

During the rainy season or summer, mosquitoes are pests that can bite during the day and at night. Some species of mosquitoes ‘operate’ at night, such as culex and anopheles, and during daylight hours, mosquito bites can be transformed into the genus Aedes aegypti. This is why mosquitoes are recognised as deadly pests around the world!

Mosquitoes can travel and place an adult mosquito infestation from an initially at-risk environment in a safer environment. Adult mosquito control, such as mosquito fogging and curing, can be done to remove mosquitoes. Notwithstanding this, a few simple facts are also important for you to know to raise your self-awareness and provide you with extra protection against mosquito hazards.

  1. Mosquito activity can be found among leaves and is naturally attracted to dark colours. Avoid wearing dark shades to prevent mosquitoes from being attracted to you.
  2. Mosquito-like scents: fragrances, colognes, and hand creams. Minimise mosquito attraction by using softer scents.
  3. You should always be alert when entering places with high humidity levels. Mosquitoes are even attracted to your sweat, and mosquito repellents that are often sprayed on you may look like sweat to mosquitoes. Especially in hot and dry weather when you tend to sweat more.
  4. Keep your home and the spaces in it cool because mosquitoes like the temperature of our body heat.
  5. Carbon dioxide is a common gas produced by plants and through individual blasting processes. Keeping plants outside of the home to avoid the risk of higher levels of carbon dioxide attracting mosquitoes.
