Mosquito Alert

DOH recorded an irregular increase in mosquito population in NCR, authorities investigated Tondo, Manila and Pasig City specifically. As the investigation progressed, DOH undersecretary Mr. Ted Herbosa, dispelled fear of possible Dengue & Chikungunya disease brought by the mosquito, saying that the mosquitoes are not Aedes aegypti, but Culex which is a regular mosquito. 

However, Mr. Herbosa continuously warned the public that we can never be sure. You may look out for the following symptoms: 

Dengue

• Sudden, high fever 
• Severe headaches 
• Pain behind the eyes 
• Severe joint and muscle pain 
• Nausea 
• Vomiting 
• Skin rash, which appears 3 to 4 days after the onset of fever 
• Mild bleeding (such as nose bleed, bleeding gums, or easy bruising) 

Chikungunya

• High fever 
• Severe joint pain mainly in the arms and legs 
• Headache 
• Muscle pain 
• Back pain 
• Rash (about 50% of affected people)
