Last night BBC1's Watchdog was doing a report on how bad their wasp problems have been this Summer. Not having been myself I can't comment from personal experience, but I would have been screaming like a wailing banshee and flapping my arms all day if their footage is anything to go by. A wasp came down, cut into it with it's mandibles, sawed off a piece of meat almost as big as it's own abdomen and flew off with it - just. I really wish I'd had a camera but we si9mpky couldn't find one :( I decided to log it on UKWaspWatch (http://twitter.com/leyton_jay/status/20563152312), I think I'm the only entry from Crawley so far. If you can get the uptake, and people involved, it would provide some useful info on yearly wasp numbers. The database would be very infomrative for example if you managed to get 10 years worth of data- you could then start to correlate to weather conditions or other factors.
