The use of sticky boards and films are so common and more to the point enhanced, that when you see (as I did recently), a large electric fly killer machine in a kitchen, above a food prep surface, with large dead blue bottles (flies), moths and many many other insects stuck to the grid, burnt as a crisp – it’s a bit grim. I totally agree with Danusia about not liking them.
Even for models without an encapsulation roll, you would be hard pushed to see the insects from any angle thanks to the discreet louvred front covers.
So though I do work for Rentokil and therefore know how effective Luminos models are, you do not need to have a biased view to realise the blatantly obvious choices laid before you. Would you choose 1 or 2…
ONE
- You could have a machine that provides an audible zapping sound to alert your customers of a new kill.
- A visual delight for all to see of dead insects above your heads.
- And last but by no means least, the pleasure of having bits of dead insect flying out onto your food as the electric arc defrags each victim.
TWO
- A silent non-sparking machine, working silently in the background.
- Covert designed covers and auto-wind on film, removing any visual evidence of what the machine is doing.
- And your fresh bowl of soup arriving minus any additional unwanted ingredients within!
Common Sense saves the day I would say. Voting Lines are open…you decide.

option 2 for me, please
I would prefer to have alive/dead but “complete” fly in my soup/sandwich/salad rather then bits of a zapped one – with full body you can always send your food back, while with small bits you can… eat it and even leave a tip
Why H&S regulations still allow electric fly killers in food prep areas???
I would have fresh bowl of soup without any flies! I can’t believe companies use these electric grid units. Is there no regulation where food is made?
Very clear, logical arguement and statement of fact. You would have to be a fool not to choose a Luminos fly killer for effective fly control.
Customer:
Waiter….waiter, theres a bit of a fly in my soup!!

Indeed sir, this is your free gift with this weeks soup. Collect all 8 pieces to create your own insect collection. This months insect is the bluebottle fly. Courtesy of Fly zapper magazine.
I am definitely bookmarking this page and sharing it with my friends.
OMG I laughed so loud at the Options and Barry’s comment, and I think my co-workers must be thinking I’ve gone insane even before starting work for the day. LOL
Certainly not, one can try silent electric fly killing device or instead uses spray, outdoor fly killers etc
Not saying Luminos is the only options, and there are alternatives around. Not wishing to put down your reply, but to answer…I wouldnt want to be using fly spray over my food surfaces everytime i saw a fly. Plus as flies are attracted to Ultra Violet Light, it is important to site a fly machine away from windows, otherwise they compete for light and the fly will aim for the window area.
Imagine at night, dark room, with UV light in the corner…only place for fly to go…no brainer really.
Move to daylight same situation, fly choses windows full of light or Fly Unit.Fly unit as long as its away from the windows.
Therefore with that in mind, would hanging a fly killer outside be effective considering it will have a source of UV all around it, the flies would hardly notice it.
Its an alternative to more obvious fly units, its non toxic and its discreet. However ther are instances that the problem is that bad that we still have to resort to spraying as last option.
Great thing is pest control has many methods and alternatives, which therefore provides options, options always require a choice so all said and done we can inform you of options and different companies will say mines the best, ours is the best etc. As long as we provide the correct info with data to back it up then we’ve done our job. but its you all that decide at the end of the day.
Viva Democracy……….unless of course you dont buy the products …then long live the revolution
